WELCOME
Welcome to that place where you can truly be yourself. If you don't know who that is yet, welcome to that place where you can discover who you truly are – without judgment.
Welcome to that place where you can think freely about what led to your current predicament, emotional suffering, or unsatisfying relationship.
I'm Matthew Nordin, LICSW. You can call me Matt.
I've tried to create a judgment free zone. And it's one that's specifically welcoming to immigrants and people of all beliefs, sexual orientations, and gender identities. Who knew I'd still have to write that in 2025? It should be obvious. But that's where we are.
I also try to meet you where you're at. That means recognizing that, for instance, if we both know a sexual assault is the underlying cause of your depression, we don't have to talk about it until you're ready.
Parents that you don't emotionally align with? I'm not going to ask you to talk about it until you're ready.
Trauma-Informed Care
Whether you suffer from ADHD, depression, social anxiety or PTSD,
trauma-informed care is at the heart of my practice.
Because no matter our station in life,
we've all experienced trauma.
Formally known as psychodynamic therapy, this is often my clients' favorite. You set the agenda. We talk about what you want to talk about. And we analyze together whether there are connections to your earlier life experiences.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a top-line treatment for survivors of traumatic experiences, including those with PTSD.
It is endorsed by the VA and the World Health Organization. This article does a great job describing the benefits of EMDR and its possible side effects.
